Uruguay-born Antonio Soto is a seasoned bass singer and versatile performer with extensive experience in opera, as well as exceptional talent and flair as a Tango singer and stage actor.

Antonio Soto, a renowned bass singer from Montevideo born in 1955, has had a remarkable career both in his home country and internationally. He began his journey as an opera performer at a young age, making his lyrical debut in October 1977. Although he initially explored other music genres, particularly from the River Plate popular repertoire including Tango and folklore, he captivated audiences in various venues across Madrid and Spanish RTV by the time he was just 16 years old.
Alongside his artistic pursuits, Antonio Soto became the founder and principal promoter of the Sociedad Urugruaya Pro Opera. This non-profit organization, established in 1985, dedicated nearly 14 years to producing some of the finest opera performances in Uruguay. It also hosted high-caliber concerts featuring legendary artists such as tenors Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras (the latter performing on two occasions), baritone Sherril Milnes, mezzo-soprano Fiorenza Cossotto, and sopranos Leona Mitchell and Katia Ricciarelli, among a prestigious lineup of figures from the lyrical world. Additionally, the organization is fondly remembered for hosting a memorable performance by the Bolshoi ballet of Moscow, featuring its star Maria Plisetkaya.
